Numa cerimónia que teve uma apresentação sarcasticamente fabulosa por parte de Ricky Gervais, os prémios dos globos de ouro de 2011 acabaram por não surpreender.
‘The Social Network’ foi o filme que mais se destacou, venceu quatro das seis categorias em que estava nomeado. ‘The Kids Are All Right’ e ‘The Fighter’ ficaram em segundo lugar, ao vencerem dois Globos de Ouro cada um.
Nas séries, o vencedor da noite foi ‘Glee’, que ganhou três Globos de Ouro (Melhor Série de Comédia pelo segundo ano consecutivo, Melhor Actriz e Actor Secundários). ‘Broadwalk Empire’ foi a segunda série mais premiada, venceu duas categorias (Melhor Actor e Melhor Série).
